Directions

The Institute is located mid-way between Altoona and State College

From State College: follow Rt. 220 S. toward Tyrone and Altoona. Continue straight ahead at the light in Port Matilda, turning right off Rt. 220 South at Fowler Hollow Road, 4 mile past Port Matilda, and follow the signs to the Institute.

From Altoona and I-99: take the Bald Eagle Exit and follow Rt. 350 North. (toward Phillipsburg) for 2 miles. Turn right on S. Mountain Road and follow the Institute signs.

From Pittsburgh: take Route 22 East until it meets Route 220/I-99. Proceed North past Altoona and Tyrone. Take the Bald Eagle Exit and follow Rt. 350 North (toward Phillipsburg) for 2 miles. Turn right on S. Mountain Road and follow the Institute signs.

From Harrisburg: take Route 322/22 West to State College. Continue on Rt. 220 South toward Tyrone and Altoona. Continue straight ahead at the light in Port Matilda, turning right at Fowler Hollow Road, 4 mile past Port Matilda, and follow the signs to the Institute.

From Washington & Baltimore: take I-70 North to the Pennsylvania Turnpike. Follow 1-70/I-76 West one exit to Bedford (Exit 146). Travel North on Route 220/I-99 toward Altoona. Proceed North past Altoona and Tyrone. Take the Bald Eagle Exit and follow Rt. 350 North (toward Phillipsburg) for 2 miles. Turn right on S. Mountain Road and follow the Institute signs.

From I-80 West(Northern PA, Cleveland): Take I-80 to Exit 123 “Woodland/Philipsburg. Turn right into PA 970 S for 1.4 miles and then left on US-322 that goes to Philipsburg. In Philipsburg follow signs for Rt. 350 S toward Tyrone. 10 miles past Philipsburg (after coming down the mountain), S. Mountain Road will be on the left. Turn onto S. Mountain Road and follow the Institute signs.

From I-80 East (New York, Scranton, Boston): Take I-80 to Exit 161. Travel south on I-99/220 toward State College. Continue South when the highway becomes Rt. 322 and then Rt. 220 S. toward Tyrone and Altoona. Continue straight ahead at the light in Port Matilda, turning right off Rt. 220 South at Fowler Hollow Road, 4 mile past Port Matilda, and follow the signs to the Institute.

PLEASE NOTE:when using some online mapping tools, be sure to enter the destination address as
2844 South Mountain Road, Port Matilda, PA 16870
The directions from some internet sites will tell you turn onto "Miller Road" not South Mountain Road from Route 350. These websites are wrong; the road sign will say "S Mountain Rd."
