Training Services

The Institute has developed a series of unique training programs that are offered in a variety of formats. Emphasis is placed on providing information and skills that are immediately applicable in the participant’s personal and professional life. All presentations use audio visual support, exercises and other teaching techniques to create an engaging and enjoyable learning experience.

Critical Life Skills

The Institute believes that 5 Critical Life Skills strongly influence individual success and personal happiness. These key concepts can be introduced in a 1½ hour presentation or effectively discussed during a day-long presentation. Greater mastery of these skills is best achieved in a two-day program for each Critical Life Skill.

1.         Building Meaningful Relationships

The quality of our relationships determines our personal happiness and professional effectiveness. “Bonding” and “trusting” are the foundation of healthy intimacy at work and at home. Learning how to nurture and build trusting relationships requires a process of self-discovery, the acquisition of new insights into behavior, and the implementation of appropriate changes.

2.         Effective Communications

Communication skills are critical to our interactions with others. They enable us to establish strong relationships, provide the basis for effective team work, and help us work through the inevitable areas of conflict. This program uses a variety of models that help participants understand how they and others communicate. These models also reveal the nature of any obstacles that may exist. Communication tools are provided and the art of meaningful communication is discussed and practiced.

3.         Effective Decision Making

Decision making is a critical skill in both our personal and professional lives. Our ability to make good decisions and implement the right course of action can have a lasting impact on healthy self-development, relationships, professional success and the achievement of goals. This program provides new insights into how we make decisions, the often unseen obstacles, and how we can improve our ability to implement choices that will provide maximum benefit.

 4.         Effective Problem Solving

Problem solving skills are constantly employed in both our personal and professional lives.   We are required to seek answers which will help us achieve goals, often serving the needs of many parties. This may require that problems or challenges be seen as opportunities in disguise. The program will introduce approaches to problem solving that will help participants see all of the available options and identify the most appropriate response.

5.         Effective Conflict Resolution

Just as problems are an expected part of life, we can also expect conflict. Learning to identify the sources of conflict, and understand how each of us responds in these situations, enables us to work through conflict in a more productive manner. Participants will receive tools to facilitate understanding, acceptance, and forgiveness. This program will help participants see conflict in a more positive manner – as an opportunity for growth and healing.

Performance Skills

Everyone has opportunities to lead, to work as part of a group or community, and to uphold values that will change their world. Key concepts and corresponding skills are introduced in 1 hour presentations, half-day and full-day seminars.

1.         Leadership as a choice

We all have opportunities to offer leadership, influencing the choices and actions of others. This program will explore how leadership is achieved and maintained. It will examine how each person has the ability to affect their world through acts of leadership. Using a series of models, leadership styles will be examined. The qualities of an effective leader will be discussed and tools to strengthen your leadership skills will be offered.

2.         Ethics as a choice

Our personal and professional lives continually reveal the values that underpin our relationships and our actions. Do they reflect virtue and admirable principles? Are we contributing to an ethical environment at work and at home? These important questions require careful consideration. This program will examine how ethical environments are created, and what we must do if we are to sustain and strengthen ethical practices.

3.         Teamwork as a choice

Effective teams are based on the quality of the relationships between the team members. How people communicate, solve problems and resolve conflicts are
keys to determining their effectiveness. This program examines the challenges of building effective teams, and considers how team efforts can be transformed into a rewarding and productive experience.

Quality of Life Skills

Personal health, energy, happiness and a sense of well-being are areas of our lives where we have significant control. These seminars and workshops are designed to give participants the knowledge and skills required to improve their quality of life.

1.         Managing Stress

Stress can have an enormous impact on a person’s health, productivity, enjoyment and sense of well-being. Developing an understanding of stress, and the way in which it impacts the body, the mind and the emotions is important. Learning different ways to reduce stress and counteract its effects is essential to better health. This program is a very practical examination of stress. It will introduce tools and techniques that will help bring stress under control.

2.         Eating for Health and Wellness

The way in which a person eats can have a dramatic impact upon their present and future health. An approach to eating that is right for your body can change the way you feel, the energy you have, and your overall sense of well-being. This program will explore ways for you to use food to maximize your health and improve your quality of life.

3.         Creating Balance

We often find ourselves being pulled apart by conflicting responsibilities and time constraints, as well as a variety of interest and priorities. All of us need to establish patterns of centering and grounding that keep us focused and moving toward greater self-discovery and balance in our daily lives. This program will suggest models that support this process and skill development that helps participants find greater happiness in their lives.
